Behind The Scenes It's not all about getting up on stage. An incredible amount of work goes on behind the scenes to make it all possible. There are lots of jobs to be done the least of which is getting involved with setbuilding which goes on every Saturday whilst we're putting a show together. On this page are some pictures of the set build for our July 2006 show, The Haunted Through Lounge and Recessed Dining Nook at Farndale Castle - click on the photos to see an enlarged image. This play represented quite a challenge as the set was elaborate and required many different scenes and changes. The set also needed to be very 'active' as the script demanded all sorts of things to happen to it, such as pictures falling down, a car (pictured) and several backdrops. In short, a lot of work needs to be done to support the actors on stage. And it's not just the set. There is also lighting, sound, props and a number of other things to be considered and we are always on the look-out for people to help with these things. If you're an old hand looking to get involved with a new group - or if you've never even attempted these things but fancy having a go, we'd love to meet you. We'll teach you all the things you need to know. To add a personal note, the person writing this didn't know which end of a screwdriver to hold when he joined ATG. He's now stage manager for the July production! He even says it's helped him a great deal learning to fix things around the house as he now understands a bit better how things fit together! If you'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Just get in touch with us, via the committee page. Amateur dramatics isn't just about getting up on stage. It can also be about learning new skills, making friends and a whole lot more. And at the end of it you're left with a show that you can be proud of. Something you know you contributed to.
